Here’s to a Spooktacular October

It’s been a busy month and my camera has gotten one heck of a workout… from the events for A Woman’s Place and 5k’s benefiting our four-legged friends, to this year’s amazing autumn landscape and color, to getting creative with things just lying around the house and at the “Haunted Ghost House” in Lambertville…  {whew}

To commemorate such an awesome month….  I’ve put a little something together to sum it all up.

Want to see some more of my images from the “Haunted Ghost House?” I’ll be posting throughout the day on Instagram. So much  effort and creativity goes into Dolores Dragan’s Halloween art display for all to enjoy, so be sure to check them out HERE.  Not on Instagram or Facebook, not to worry, I’ll do an “after party” post tomorrow… stay tuned.

Hope you have a Spooktacular Halloween!

Until next time,
Maria

Shout out to Jai Art and Captured by Carrie for helping me add just the right mood to my image.

Don’t leave home without it…

Beautiful fall day.  Decided to quit work early and head to a pumpkin patch with my daughter.  Of course we picked one where the drive was a as much a part of the outting…to soak up all that autumn goodness.  Getting out the door was another thing and in my hurry, guess what I forgot.   Yup, my camera…   A few minutes into the ride, still frazzled,  going back wasn’t an option.   And with that my daughter said “maybe that’s a good thing.”  Translation: Whew… I won’t have to wait around while you spend (excessive) minutes taking pictures of a pumpkin…  But doesn’t it figure, we had the pumpkin patch to ourselves,

there was little to no wind and the flower patch was in all its glory not to mention the fall colors in the hills.  And if that wasn’t enough…a beautiful heron was feeding in the canal, perfectly content having us around to watch…

and me without my camera.  Oh but wait… I did have a camera, obviously.  Do I have photos that are show stoppers… probably not.  But! I captured a few beautiful moments on a beautiful fall afternoon spent with my daughter.  Happy Fall All!

Until next time,

Fantastic Finds

HAPPY FALL!smiling-faces

Fall is full of them … fantastic finds. W-Va-Crackle

On one of the first days of fall, I set out on a “Back to Basics” outing at a nearby farmer’s market. Right away, I was greeted with a handful of challenges, such as really bright sunlight, people milling about everywhere, and a bit of my own hesitation. The hesitation…knowing vendors are there to try to sell you something and thinking they don’t want you blocking their stall trying to get “the shot.” Campbells-kids

One way I probably could have avoided feeling like I was getting in the way, shoot with a zoom lens.  But, it was just me and the 50 mm, and so I made a photo exercise out of it. Turns out, vendors (at least the ones I came across) were happy to have me mill about with my camera and strike up a conversation. . . whether it be about W. Va crackle glass or an old typewriter from the 1920’s (I sure hope it is still there the next time I go back).

And of course, it was not very hard to find all the colors of fall . . .
happy-fall-pumpkins . . . scattered here and there throughout the market.

white-impressions Oh, remember that W. Va crackle glass I mentioned… sunflower-studywell, this crackled little yellow treasure was my one and only fantastic find of the day that actually came home with me 🙂

Til next time,
Maria
