Good Morning! I’m thinking I should start calling this blog Saturday Mornings with Mer (the nickname my the in-law family bestowed upon me =) Even then, maybe I should preference that to Monthly … Flashback a few months: I had all these plans for growing this blog, well, at least I thought I did. Present day: I now know having no strategy, for me, is my best strategy! I can’t force more hours into a day to do all the things I want any more than I can force my creative process…
So here it is, Saturday morning, everyone still asleep, the sun just coming up (a lovely site after the week of rainy days we have had here), enjoying that first cup of coffee in my favorite mug (not the steel bubba I usually haul to work with me every day, although if you’re looking to keep your drink hot or cold for hours on end, it does the job…and then some!). The best part, sitting here telling about it … sharing…for no real good reason other than I can.
Aren’t the colors of summer fantastic?!? Our garden is exploding with color … at least what the little bunnies haven’t eaten. Welcome to my Garden!
This rose is the newest edition to our garden, a Grandiflora, Cherry Parfait. Isn’t she a beaut!
Rain & Flowers = ♥♥♥
The azaela blooms have come and gone, but always put on such an impressive show!
Those bad, bad little bunnies. I’m glad I got the shot when I did… nothing left but stems 😦 now.
That’s it for today, folks, back out to the garden, like I said, It’s a B-E-A-utiful Morning! and the hydrangeas are feeling a little blue 😉 that I’ve been neglecting them. Then I’m off to a local hosta and lily nursery. Can’t wait to see what colors I can add to my garden.
Til Next Time,
Maria MER 😉
Whew… made it. Happy Friday! I really wanted to make sure to get my KK Texture Tuesday and 2B link ups in before the week was out (one of those weekly resolutions I set for myself). I know, technically, I still have a day left in the week; but when the weekend hits, finding a moment can be an even bigger challenge.
So I hear spring started this week… not in my neighborhood. It’s still cold, windy, and I even saw a few snowflakes today. Well, I’m not waiting anymore.
I love that if I feel it (the warmth). . . if I dream it (the sun). . . I can create it! I can wiggle my nose too 😉 Of course, a little Kim magic doesn’t hurt either.
The process: A lesson on text & paths from Kim over at 2B this week.
Texture: KK Sophia.
The weeks leading up to my birthday, I caught myself once or twice thinking “Oh No! I’ve reached the peak and am now heading down the other side…” The picture in my head that went along with that was not a pretty one. I needed to come up with another picture …and fast. On the eve of my birthday, it occurred to me . . . I’m not over the peak ~ I’m just starting the Part II of a very good book . . . my book!
I celebrated the start of my Part II by a lot of nothing in particular. For me that means my day was not planned, no to-do lists, not an agenda in sight; things just happened … or not. It was perfect!
The day started with an impromptu visit with the Easter Bunny. I definitely wasn’t prepared for this ~ except for the fact that my camera was in the car to document my cupcake outing ~ not only did I leave my Easter basket at home, but my warmer coat, hat, and gloves… and it started to snow!
Aren’t they just the cutest. They all came prepared…including wearing those adorable hats <3!
Back on track. . . I heard of local establishment called The Lucky Cupcake Company and decided I was long over due for a visit. It was the hardest decision I had to make all day. In the end, my box included six scrumptious cupcakes: Irish cream (for St. Patty’s day, of course), Bailey’s cheesecake, carrot cake, lemon cream, peanut butter cup, and the crowd favorite, the Car Bomb (“Chocolate Guinness cake filled with Jameson truffle, dipped in chocolate and top with Bailey’s buttercream”). Oh so…DELICIOUS!
Part II could not have started any more perfectly!
Yippee, according to ‘Punxsutawney Phil’ an early spring is predicted! I have my own way of bringing spring a little early. I head to my neighborhood Produce Junction and buy myself some pretty flowers. Last week’s tulips are still going strong! So if you live in an area like I do… where currently the temperature is 20 degrees and a light snow is falling and spring can’t come soon enough… please give Phil a shout-out for putting up with us crazy humans for dragging him out of his snug little burrow and NOT seeing his shadow.
I thought for sure I was going to miss capturing this beautiful early spring rushing from here to there and usually forgetting to bring my camera along (hmm, I’m thinking it’s time for an iPhone). Well, lucky for me, the nice warm days continue and I really didn’t have to look much further than my own neighborhood to find that spring has sprung!
So this week over at Beyond Layers it is all about COLOR. The timing couldn’t be more perfect as everything turns from winter’s ho-hum grays and browns to springs bursts of greens, yellows, pinks . . . and you’ll have to wait as the week goes on for the rest of the colors 😉
Stay tuned, there’s plenty more color to come 🙂
