Baby it’s hot outside . . .

I know, I know the lyrics actually go something like “baby it’s cold outside” but when you celebrate Christmas in July . . . well a-whoop-de-do and hickory dock . . .

Christmas jingles like that were being sung last weekend at the Dreyer’s Christmas in July.  Our scheduled family event way back in December was cancelled due to inclement weather and, well, this was the first time everyone could get together since then.  And it is very important that we all be there because nobody wants to miss out on the Chinese auction, white elephant, or whatever you want to call it.  This year was no exception . . . some of the hot items included a do-rag and an itty-bitty stool.   A very fun day with the family and the best part of all, instead of waiting 12 months for the next one, now we only have to wait 6 . . . weather permitting.

Happy 4th of July

I know it is a little after the fact, but the local 4th of July fireworks display was rained out last weekend.  Which was actually a good thing for us because we had the wrong date anyway . . . turns out we showed up a day late last week.  So it was rescheduled for last night and it was a perfect summer evening to sit under the stars and ooooh and aaaah.

July – Photo a Day

My brother came up with the idea of a July photo-a-day.  There are three of us posting our daily photo on Facebook and I must say the photos keep getting more interesting. Except for my day 8, it looks too posed for my taste, but then again I was losing my light and short on time and when all else fails bring out the dog 😉  I can also see this becoming  more of a challenge Mondays-Fridays as the month goes on.  Unfortunately, I do have a “day job” that limits my time behind the camera; and making photos of my work area appear interesting and fresh seems virtually impossible, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try.
